Will Ludlam Gives Thanks (But Not for Matthias)

If you've come over from the Preternatura blog, sorry for the duplication!

In the world of romance, there are some very awesome contests and awards, and in all but one, an author has to enter in order to become a finalist. That includes the Oscar of the genre world, the Romance Writers of America's RITA award. This isn't a post about that.

If Rita is the Oscar, I'd say the Reviewer's Choice Awards from RT Book Reviews magazine are the Golden Globes. Nominations are made, and the ultimate winner chosen, by the magazine staff from the more than 3,000 books they've covered throughout the year.

Here are the nominees for the 2013 RT Reviewers Choice Awards in Paranormal Romance, in order of release date, announced late yesterday:

DEMON HUNTING IN A DIVE BAR by Lexi George, BRAVA (February 2013)
OMEGA by Susannah Sandlin, MONTLAKE (February 2013)
THE CURSED by Alyssa Day, BERKLEY SENSATION (May 2013)
HEART OF OBSIDIAN by Nalini Singh, BERKLEY, (June 2013)
THE FIVE DEATHS OF ROXANNE LOVE by Erin Quinn, POCKET, (September 2013)
FURY OF DESIRE by Coreene Callahan, MONTLAKE, (October 2013)
BLACK AND BLUE by Gena Showalter, POCKET, (October 2013)

Woo-hoo! Will Ludlam gets his final revenge on Matthias!

Will Omega win? Probably not. I mean, there are some heavy hitters up there. But I'm incredibly honored to be nominated, and also happy as a pig in mud (okay, that's a Southern thing) to be up there with my friend and fellow Alabamian Lexi George and my Montlake coauthor Coreene Callahan, with whom I had a chance to have dinner at the RWA nationals back in June, along with our agents. I think there might have been a strange belly dancer.

The winners, chosen by the RT Book Reviews staff, will be announced in May 2014 just before the big RT Booklovers Convention, which is in New Orleans this year and I'm already registered. Consider going--it's an amazing convention and you'll get so many free books and other goodies you'll need a separate bag to bring them home.

So in honor of Omega's nomination, I'm going to unload some books  for one commenter. Let's say...four books from my BrokeBook Mountain of tomes. To enter, head over to my Preternatura blog and comment!

I know you're pulling for me to win (ahem), but tossing me aside, who'd get your vote among this group?

  1. I would still vote for Omega. My #2 choice would be Demon Hunting in a Dive Bar.
